I am currently looking for two highly motivated Ph.D. students to join our SSRS Lab in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University of Missouri, starting as early as Spring 2027. The research will focus on one of the following areas:
Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (with a particular emphasis on computer vision or image processing)
Large-Scale Stochastic Optimization using AI/ML
These two positions are fully funded through a combination of research and teaching assistantships, which include full tuition support, a stipend, and benefits.
Qualifications:
M.S. in Industrial and Systems Engineering, Operations Research, Computer Science/Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or related fields.
Experience in writing and presenting academic research, such as peer-reviewed journal/conference papers or an M.S. thesis.
Strong programming skills (e.g., Python, Gurobi, CPLEX, AMPL, GAMS, MATLAB, or R) and/or Proficiency with deep learning frameworks like TensorFlow and PyTorch.
Solid understanding of computer vision/image processing or stochastic optimization.
