OPEN POSITIONS [Deadline: December 15, 2025]

I am currently looking for one highly motivated Ph.D. student to join our SSRS Lab in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University of Missouri, starting as early as Fall 2026. The research will focus on one of the following areas:

1. Stochastic Optimization

2. Agent-based Simulation

This position is fully funded through a combination of research and teaching assistantships, which include full tuition support, a stipend, and benefits.

Qualifications:

• M.S. in Industrial and Systems Engineering, Operations Research, Computer Science/Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or related fields.

• Experience in writing and presenting academic research, such as peer-reviewed journal/conference papers or an M.S. thesis.

• Strong programming skills (e.g., Python, CPLEX, GAMS, AMPL, R, MATLAB, AnyLogic) and/or Proficiency with deep learning frameworks like TensorFlow and PyTorch.

• Solid understanding of large-scale stochastic optimization or simulation methods with AI and machine learning.
